So, on Sunday, I decided my housework and such could wait a little longer. After all, I had skipped all that stuff to go up to dock diving on Saturday, what was skipping it one more day to spend Sunday afternoon lure coursing?
I think Koira was a little overly pleased by this decision.
And even more so when she got to run.
Even better, Pallo got to come out and play too. Unlike dock diving, Pallo thinks lure coursing TOTALLY ROCKS!
Pallo even had a super duper proud moment, when the lure operator misjudged how fast those stubby short little legs were moving, and Pallo was able to actually catch the lure before it came to a stop. Such a proud prancing boy.
Did you get to do anything fun over the weekend? Have your dogs ever tried lure coursing? What do they think about it?
I had an agility trial both days, so lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteBoth my guys have tried lure coursing. Jimmy (who also loves agility) loves it. He chased the lure right off the bat with little encouragement from me. Wilson (who used to do agility, but wasn't really drivey about it) was luke warm on lure coursing. He'd chase it a bit them was like, meh, it's not really a rabbit, why bother. Given a real rabbit to chase, he keeps on it until it finally goes to ground in thorns where Wilson knows better than to tread.
It's crack for dogs!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you take the pups lure coursing? I've been looking for somewhere to take Rufus but just for fun. In Chicago, they often had fundraising events where you could try it out.

ReplyDeleteWe lure course with the Chintimini Kennel Club coursing group. They are based in Corvallis, OR. Finding local AKC and sighthound clubs in your area should show you where you can go to lure course. You can also check the AKC website for upcoming CATs (coursing ability tests).
ReplyDeleteYour dogs are so neat :)
ReplyDeleteI think my guys would love that, I have never even heard of it though!
Karma goes absolutely, over the top, turn the dial past 11 crazy bonkers anywhere near lure coursing. I'm hoping her shoulder will heal enough that I can take her to an event this summer. I suspect Quasar would be almost as bonkers about it.
ReplyDeleteWow! I seriously feel like a terrible dog owner after reading your awesomely exciting posts!

ReplyDeleteAwesome photos! I love the last one when Pallo catches the lure. I've never done lure coursing with Frankie. He might love it but he's chased heaps of live lures so a plastic bag might be a bit tame for him! The only time I did it with Beryl she injured herself slightly (although enough for a Saturday night trip to the vet!) so I think we'll stay away now.
ReplyDeleteYour action shots are fantastic!! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteLove the second picture. Just awesome!!
